A large number of Quercus species are found in Europe and western Asia, with the main distribution area in North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Active ingrdients<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tannins &#8211; condensed tannins with catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin and oligomeric proanthocyanidins, furthermore ellagitannins, flavonoids in leaves; mainly glycosides of kaempferol and quercetin\/triterpenes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Effect<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The extract acts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>antiviral<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>anthelmintic (worming)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>virustatic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Use<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When added to teas or gargles, quercus alba bark extracts relieve inflammation of the mouth and throat. Baths are used for various chronic skin diseases. Due to their astringent effect, creams and facial tonics with oak bark extract are suitable for oily skin with excessive sebum production.
