Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract (INCI)



Lotus flower (Nelumbo Nucifera) belongs to the water lily family, Nymphaeaceae. Nymphea lotos, the Egyptian white lotus flower, was the sacred flower in the ancient Egyptian Empire. The flower was part of a royal tradition of a beauty bath for queens in ancient India and as a medicine for various ailments in other Asian countries.

Active ingredients of Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract

Both the flower and the seed can be useful, as the seed extract can be obtained from the green germ of the ripe seeds. The nelumbo nucifera extract contains flavonoids and alkaloids, e.g. romaine, lotus, army paine, neferine, etc.
Nuciferin, Armepavin, Nornuciferin, Roemerin, Pronuciferin (Alkaloide).

Effect of Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract

The ingredients of the Nelumbo Nucifera Flower have an astringent (tightening) and skin strengthening effect. The lotus seed extract has proven itself especially as an antioxidant. Various ingredients act as powerful antioxidants. Applied to the surface of the skin or hair, it can protect the skin from harmful free radicals and replace structural proteins. Thus, the structural damage caused by the free radicals can be inhibited and reversed. When applied to the skin, it forms a layer that protects it from external harmful factors such as wind, dust or microbes. In addition, it preserves the skin’s own moisture and keeps it well hydrated. It can denature the skin protein such as dead skin cells, dead bacteria and thus helps to cleanse and improve the appearance of the skin.
