Origin
Limes are the fruit of Citrus aurantifolia (Swingle), belong to the orange family and are a vitamin C booster.
Originally native to the East Indian Archipelago, the plant belongs to the Rutaceare family. Today’s distribution area includes all subtropical areas of Central America, Africa and Asia.
Liquid extracts or the essential oil of the ripe fruit are used.
Active ingredients
The main ingredients are monoterpenes (limonene, linalool, geraniol, citral), sesquiterpenes (farnesol), aldehydes and organic acids (citric acid).
Effect
Lime oil has an antioxidant effect (free radical scavenging properties). The juice, on the contrary, tightens, cleanses and refreshes the skin.
