Origin
The orange (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis) belongs to the large genus of citrus fruits, with a distinction between bitter and sweet orange. The orange originated in northeastern India and the adjacent parts of China and Burma.
From there it spread northward to Japan and westward through India into the Mediterranean region, reaching Europe at about the beginning of the Christian era.
Active ingredients
Flavonoids: The presence of flavonoids in the fruits is a chemical generic characteristic. They are found in the fruit peels and pulp, with the flavanone glycosides predominating in terms of quantity (e.g. hesperitin, naringenin or eriodictyol).
Limonoids: are highly oxygenated tetracyclic triterpenes found in the seeds, pulp and fruit peels.
The flesh of the fruit also contains: Carbohydrates, fiber, minerals, organic acids, vitamins B and C, citric acid, malic acid.
